The new chapter in DreamWorks Animation’s acclaimed saga is the epic adventure of a determined girl in search of a place to call home who discovers her soul mate when her life intersects with that of a wild horse.

Fortu Prescott (Isabela Merced, from Dora and the Lost City) never knew her late mother, Milagro Navarro (Eiza Gonzalez, from Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw), a fearless acrobat specializing in horseback stunts from a small border town called Miradero.

Like his mother, Fortu isn’t exactly a fan of rules and restrictions, which has caused his aunt Cora (Academy Award® winner Julianne Moore) all sorts of headaches. Fortu has grown up on the East Coast under her aunt’s tutelage, but after forcing the issue with countless dangerous escapades, Cora takes matters into her own hands and decides they should both move in with her brother Jim (Oscar® nominee Jake Gyllenhaal), our heroine’s father.

Their destination, Miradero, is a sleepy little town that doesn’t exactly win Fortu’s heart. But everything changes when she meets Spirit, a wild Mustang who shares her independent nature. She also befriends two local riders, Abigail Stone (Mckenna Grace, from Captain Marvel) and Pru Granger (Marsai Martin, from Little Big Trouble). Pru’s father, Al Granger (Emmy winner Andre Braugher, from Fox’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine), is a stable owner and Fortu’s father’s best friend.

When a ruthless cowboy (Emmy nominee Walton Goggins, from FX’s Justified: Raylan’s Law) and his crew plan to capture Spirit and her herd for auction and condemn them to a life of captivity and hard labor, Fortu convinces her friends to summon all their courage and embark on the adventure of a lifetime to rescue the horse that has taught her the value of freedom and given meaning to her existence, helping her discover a connection she could never have imagined to her mother’s legacy and her Mexican roots.

SPIRIT – UNTAMABLE is the next chapter in DreamWorks Animation’s popular saga that began with the Oscar-nominated 2002 film Spirit, the Untamed Steed, and has its own Emmy Award-winning television series. The film is directed by Elaine Bogan (Netflix and DreamWorks Animation Television series Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia) and produced by Karen Foster (co-producer of How to Train Your Dragon). Co-directed by Ennio Torresan (story director of Baby Boss) and scored by composer Amie Doherty (Amazon series Undone and DreamWorks Animation film Marooned).
